It was fun to watch that one. I must admit I"m watchign it on the $10 Dish app streamed to my tv via roku and it seems more real to have it on 'tv'. The commercials seem to make it real.
What a GREAT SMART RACE BY SIMPSON.
At 300, she was in 9th and i was like what the hell? In reality, she was running dead even. The reason why the men ran so fast in Doha is they had a very reasonable first 400. Here everyone was crazy fast as usual - except simpson.
400 - leader 62.2. Simpson was 8th in about 64.5
800 - leader 206 low. Simpson was 9th at 209ish (maybe 208 high). But basically 64 mid, 64 mid.
By 1k she was right in it as the field just slammed on the breaks.
1200 - 314 and was was in third So 64 mid, 64 mid then 65.
Her final 300 was 46 so she picked it up. Final 200 right around 31.
Aregawi was 29.5-7ish for final 200. Wow.
Aregawi looks like she can go a lot faster. She looks in good shape. She seemed disappointed by the time. Jenny looked good too, she will definitely PR sooner than later.

Indeed. Gatlin was INCREDIBLE. It was a trouncing htat reminded you of Bolt, that's why the announcer was going nuts, he thought it was going to be a 9.7 or something.
Did you hear Tim Hutchings. He couldn't help but give a little dig about what great form the former doper is in at age 32.
Age 32 in an event that has historically belonged to younger men.

Coburn was the only one who went with the rabbit. Built up a 60m lead, won by a big margin in 9:19. She actually sped up when the rabbit dropped out. Not sure what the rest of the field was thinking, but it was a fabulous run by Coburn. Not sure where Cheever finished, but she was back a bit. Remarkable race.
Emma Coburn looked great. Looks like she can go a lot faster too

Congrats to Emma Coburn...I probably shouldn't say that, maybe just because of her looks and it's early season, but she reminded me of that blonde russian girl in the 1500m, couple of seasons back (what was her name?!). But okay, the time in itself doesn't raise eyebrows.
