I'm sure MR has put the hole thing behind him and has moved on. That DQ will probably happen but I guarantee it's not going to hit the news. It's been marinading for too long folks. Who is going to want to report his DQ after they all aired the principal letter story? It's embarrassing to do a 180 and won't be worth it for them. I still hope there is some excitement from possible FB backlash though. He's going to deny or avoid, so I'm not expecting any more thrilling moments. I'll be following closely, but it hurts to refresh the page and not see anything fresh.
Agreed. Because this is such an embarrassment to both the runner and the race they are both trying to make it quietly go away. It appears they have succeeded.
I thought the Mike Rossi Challenge would have kept it fresh on people's minds. But in the end I guess the question is - how much time are we willing to lose over this jackass who cheated at a race?
Just like Rosie Ruiz, Rossi will probably deny it for another couple of decades if anyone asks, and after that he'll just refuse to talk about it. I would bet that he never runs another race again. He only started running in order to run Boston. He has done that now, and in the process showed them thar terrorists who's in charge while his adoring family watched. Why would he ever bother running again? He doesn't have to prove anything to anyone. He can now move on to Ironman, Tough Mudders, Warrior Dashes, Color Runs, Crossfit, or whatever it is allows one to put the most stickers on ones car.
The one thing I take away from this is that I will now associate the name "Rossi" with cheating and getting away with it. I will always think of timing mats as "Rossi Mats." Whenever someone cheats at something and covers their tracks, I will think of it as "pulling a Rossi." It works as a verb too. "You know, you can Rossi your taxes a little. Odds of being audited are really low!"
