It's not really dumb but is irrelevant. We have 3 women going to Paris and 2 men. It was referring to- we need a man to finish top 5 to get the 3rd in to Paris.
Is that correct? I think in context to what it was replying to that was obvious.

Chebet just ran the uphill 17th mile in 5:02. That sounds super slow but remember it's like 50 feet uphill.
John Kellogg's formuly is you slow 2.4 seconds for each 10 foot elevation gain so that would be 12 seconds.
But can we totally trust those splits. 4:27 for 14 seemed super fast?Of course, they aren't telling us any of this on the broadcast.

He actually opened the gap a lot there. 15:40 for the chase pack. The race for 1st is over it would seem. The race for the course record, still on.
