Yes, Rojo. Isn't John Kellogg's downhill conversion like 7s gained for every 10 ft. of elevation drop??
No. 1.8 seconds per 10 feet. John last night told me thought the wind would be worth at least a minute. I was surprised he didn't thin it was worth more as he said a 20 mph tailwind was worth 3-4 minutes way back in the day.
But he said it wasn't a perfect tail wind.
Mile 17-18 and 20 and 21 are the uphill miles.
This commentating is driving me insane. They are acting like the other guys can just easily pick it up off of 2:04 pace.
Looking forward to your write up about what Lemma's first half equates to on a flat course without wind. Still a brave brave run anyway you slice it!

Emma and Sarah both look good. Desi has caught back up. Jenny Simpson only a minute back off the leaders, on 2:27 pace. Would be pretty cool if she ran under 2:30.
Albertson has never broken 2:10, correct? He told LetsRun he’d been too busy with life to get in the shape of his life—“ready to run 2:06 or 2:07”—but that he thought he could run sub-2:10 on a good day. Maybe he’ll run a big PR having been too busy to race 27 mile training runs.
Just a few weeks ago he was out pacing D3 guys to mid 14 5000s, heat after heat after heat.
Calling the Ethiopian and Kenyan Olympians: Tola , Lemma, and whoever finishes higher of Esa and Teklu for Ethiopia; Benson, Kipchoge, and the first Kenyan here between Albert Korir, Kotut, and Chebet
We would be lucky to have a male American finish in the top 5 of the women's race.
What a dumb comment.
I don't think it's dumb. There are 9 women who have broken 2:20 in this field and that doesn't count Obiri or Lokedi. If they all run their best, no American finishes in the top 5.
