Given that the spotlight's now on the RD, wouldn't they want to ensure 'due process' before handing down a dq? Not sure what it may involve but possibly that the (non) evidence is verified by persons appointed by them.

I wonder if someone from Letsrun is helping? The detailed spreadsheet of the race photos would sure be useful in an investigation.
Using the "Lets Run evidence" provides a perfect out for Mike Rossi if he does get the DQ.

I'm beyond caring if he gets DQ'ed or his record wiped from Boston. He'll always say he is innocent, and you can't get him to return his Boston medal and 16 BAA jackets, hats and shirts.
The best possible outcome now is that race directors start making it harder to cheat, and every race has multiple mats.
Everything else is just noise.
Yeah I'm certain you're right, they can't rush it without doing their due diligence (which has really already been done here). "Weeks" just sounds like an awfully long time.

End of this week at the earliest. And it might take several.
Meanwhile, USATF should make anti-cheating measures so that a first time offender gets a ban for a number of years (2-4) from all USATF sanctioned events, and a second infraction is a lifetime ban. So not unlike drug bans (which are sort of a joke, but at least it's something of a deterrent).
The race directors are playing this smart:
Announce that it could take weeks to come to a decision. That shows there is no rush to judgment and that the review will be deliberate and thoughtful.
Announce there will be a panel. That shows that the decision will not be made by one guy, looking at pictures on a little laptop in his basement.
Announce that you have requested USATF review the case (or at least provide guidance on how to best review the case at the "race level.").
Announce that they will review "photo checkpoints." That tells you that to them the photos are not random or just for the purpose of sales to the participants, but rather are "checkpoints" at which you should see the athletes passing by and that they were designed (placement on the course, number of photos taken and so forth) with the intent of verifying complete participation. Just like timing mats, someone could miss one and be excused, but miss every "photo checkpoint" and you have a problem.
we can't expect that an announcement would occur so fast. They really just started the process in the middle of last week and this was Mothers' Day weekend.

This thread is bottoming out. For the past 50+ pages every time someone has had a lengthy response, I just skip it. It's the same stuff over and over again. And Rojo/Wejo haven't responded in days now.
It's been almost a week and no direct evidence has been found, so I don't think any will ever be found. MR might be taking this to his grave, his word against everyone else's.
I think he's the new Lance Armstrong and denies for multiple years, tries to become a legit marathoner and hit good times to prove he didn't cheat, keeps getting injured because he can't run those times, then writes a book (blog) about the 'truth' sometime in around 5-10 years from now. "How I cheated to get into the Boston Marathon".
Direct evidence has been found a long time ago so the work is already done. Do you need more evidence besides NOT finding him anywhere on the course? What else do you need to be satisfied? Not only was he not photographed anywhere on the course besides the finish, at one point there were enough sequential pictures to give us a 20min movie clip and still no MR. The thread is on pause until the RD's verdict.

It would be really great if someone who had access to movie maker or other program could scan the photos in and stream them every half second or faster. That visual - and the lack of MR - would be pretty stunning. Saying "there are not pictures" is one thing. Showing what amoutns to a video of that pack without him in it is a whole other thing. Picture (or lack thereof) worth a thousand words, etc
The lack of photography of the subject can easily be explained away. No prosecutor would take this case. A judge would and should exonerate against all charges.

Good thing it's this is not a civil/criminal case in court then. With road races, all you need is a reasonable amount of doubt and some logic to DQ someone. Pretty simple and straightforward.
Hernandez's wrong doing was easily explained away since there was no video/pic of him executing that guy, right?

There is more than one person with access to video editing software (including me). What I don't have is time to download every single photo and mess with it.

MR doesn't have anything.. he basically signed his protest rights away when he registered for that run. I highly doubt he's going to pay a ton of $ just to hassle a race director or anyone else for that matter. There is no possibility for a civil case buddy. I really hope you're just trolling.

MR signed a boilerplate liability release and waiver. If you read through it, you can see that he can be DQd for any and all reasons up to the discretion of the RD.
Any lawyer who is getting paid enough would be willing to take it to court. Is MR dumb enough to pay said lawyer? Hopefully not. I'm also pretty sure that the marathon has some kind of insurance against such suits.
The only people who would benefit from a suit are lawyers. MR? Not so much...

Is there any proof that MR has lawyers ? Its not up to us to prove that MR does not have a lawyer, he needs to prove that he does. BTW he would never win a civil case over a DQ - the threshold evidence is much lower than beyond a reasonable doubt. Its a mere preponderance of the evidence.

A video is just a collection of pictures, so I guess if we had video of the photo checkpoints showing that Rossi didn't come through at any point, that wouldn't be enough for some people.
A video captures 30 frames per second; these photographers captured approximately 1 frame per second. This is not a statistically significant difference when you're talking about capturing a the movements of a human over 200+ meters.
