Sometimes the rhetoric on this thread is just goofy and mean spirited. Someone really thinks that when a couple hires a DJ for their wedding that they will vette the DJ on the internet on his running? And that the couple is "associated" with him? You guys are getting desperate to come up with new stuff. Stick to the old stuff, it was the best stuff and good stuff.
It would be too easy to "call it like it is" on you. Yes, it very common and prudent to google people, companies or firms before hiring them. It is called due diligence. It is no different than asking someone who they use for X,Y,Z or if they have ever heard of X,Y,Z company or individual, or can you recommend someone to paint, or something. Similarly, you google or use website to get reviews about travel or restaurants. If you have two people offering the same services and one has the reputation of someone who cheats, lies and makes threats, and everything else being equal, you are not going to select a Mike Rossi or for that matter Ken Stillman.
With that said, there are a lot of lazy people out there who will not do their homework and thus get taken or have a bad experience which could have been avoided with using a google or a website.
