This is absurd. I keep opening the race broadcast on my computer and it's always showing the wheelchair races.
I guess they figure it's like eating your vegetables, get the wheelchairs out of the way early and then focus on the runners. But it's absurd how much coverage they get. We have a guy running 2:00 pace in the men's race and an American leading the women's race and they're basically being ignored.
I just called Jonathan who is in the press room where they are showing lots of different feeds. He says the world feed has less wheelchair coverage.

It is just getting worse and worse every broadcast. Let’s just blame this on post modernism.
They need to start and finish the wc races BEFORE the running race starts.
I go back and rewatch marathons like 1983 Rotterdam and NY. The coverage (by ABC) was very good and kept even non-serious runners watching.
18 part race recap incoming - "was feeling so great the first few miles, the rush of leading the race propelled me forward. Each step full of purpose and ambition. Unfortunately, I learned an important lesson today that even when you feel great, going out too hard is a big risk and doesn't always pay off."
She's on 2:21 pace, you idiot. Perfectly reasonable for the first part of this course, with a tailwind.
No disrespect to the wheelchair athletes (and congrats to Hug for a course record) but cmon, everyone watching wants to see the runners. There's barely any coverage of the men's and women's races even though we are approaching an hour in (I can't tell because they keep showing the women's wheelchair race).
Has anyone considered that the broadcasters are actually trolling us?
I’ve been watching marathon broadcasts for at least 15 years and this seems like more wheelchair coverage than ever before. I think they know we hate it.
