Will Emma Coburn follow suit in Lausanne with an AR?

Technically, I'd say Jager pulled a Coburn. He emulated her race from last year and almost pulled it off for the win. So if Emma uses the same tactics again, she'd be re-Coburning.

It may have been worth sub-9:10, but she only ran 9:11. Everybody's PRs are worth a little more, considering that no race is perfect. Her 9:11 race went out in 3:03 and hit 2k in something like 6:10. I don't believe she's been in a faster race than that. Anyway, dead even splits is not the way to run a steeple, because you go 300m or so before hitting any barriers in the beginning.All the fastest steeples I've seen have had fast last laps, although I haven't checked the WR videos to check their splits.

My point is...haha got a little caught up...9:05 would be a huge leap for Emma. 6 seconds is nearly one second per lap. This is a 3k, not a 10k where 5 seconds means little. Imagine if Galen Rupp had a 5-second 3k PR. 7:25. People would go nuts and anyone who didn't already suspect doping would be on high alert.

So...I still think 9:09 is what she'll run either this week or next. I doubt both Lausanne and Monaco will be sub-9:12 races.

If she falls and misses the record, don't worry. She'll be ready for Zurich.

I definitely think that Emma is capable of winning and PR-ing (maybe not in the same race) right now, but I'm worried about the weather this week in Lausanne. I know it's at a higher altitude than a lot of other Diamond-League cities (e.g. Paris), but Europe is in a heat-wave right now. I don't think the cooler temperatures will come, but I could be wrong. Anyone have a reliable weather forecast for the Lausanne meeting at the time of the steeple?

~70 degrees with 10 mph winds. Should be close to perfect.

Next year will be hotter.

race is 2:10pm eastern, that's in just under 3 hours

i haven't seen the race video yet, did emma go with the rabbits or did the field let the rabbits go?
