She’s the fastest heal striker I’ve ever seen. She runs the 800 with a marathoner’s shuffle. It’s ugly to look at. I’d bet shed be better at the 5000 and 10000

With Elle Purrier a close second. Heel strikers look like thy are heel striking but most often you will see they end up midfoot under COG at actual landing.
Not sure if I'd ever seen Hurta-Klecker running before, but her form made me cringe. Lots of twisty stuff with the arms. When is Alberto Salazar eligible to coach again? I think her form could use some fine tuning.
She just looks very labored when running. I don't recall this from her NCAA days, although I paid less attention then.
Going way out a limb here...but are the long bike shorts throwing us off just a bit visually?
It does see preposterous for us to assume that a person that runs faster than 99.99% of female runners, is somehow not running with the best biomechanical form for that person? Are we saying she needs to completely change her form and she is going to drop 5 seconds? I would be wiling to bet she would get way slower.
Seems unlikely that female someone who runs 1:57 is way off in form.
what is the list of all the greats who were top notch pros, then changed their form and dropped time?

Re. the bike shorts -- not really because her arms are all twisty as well. Anyway, you're right -- maybe changing her form wouldn't result in any meaningful time drop. Or maybe it would! That's the risk in change.
1:57 just doesn't cut it at the global level. And she didn't make the Worlds team w/o My running the event.
1:58 for 4th with super shoes and pacers a week after you failed to qualify for the world champs does not move me one bit.
Sorry for being negative, racing is what matters in this sport not times.
I hate to agree, because I do like SHK. She’s tough and and gives it all when she races. But times being run these days don’t matter much. This is the third year in a row SHK has gone on a revenge tour because she can’t seem to make the USA team. Championships are not an end all be all, but a middle distance runners career is defined by it.
The problem is that the women’s 800 in the USA isn’t getting any easier. Akins, Wilson and Rogers are still firmly in their 20s. You’ve also got Rose that seems poised to go to the next level. And of course Mu. SHK has a real problem that may be insurmountable to overcome. She can’t run away from those four and she can’t outkick them. The USA women’s 1500 is no easier. That event is a killer at the moment.
Sadly, OAC has two women, SHK and JNA, that may never make a team, despite being world class. Ritz may need to get creative and push both of them way up in distance. SHK to the 5k and JNA to the 10k. Hail Mary, but if those two ever want to wear the USA vest and not just be a DL hero, it may take some thinking out of the box. Paris is 13 months away.

Hurta-Klecker is actually a mid foot striker. Her foot starts to come down as if she was going to heel strike, but then at the last second she moves the ball of her foot downward and lands midfoot.
She does well when she gets dragged to fast times in these Diamond League races but unfortunately doesn’t have much chance in championship 800s. Just doesn’t have the pure speed. Would like to see her take a real crack at the 1500 this summer.
Does not have the body type for 1500m. In fact, it’s awkward just watching her run 800m.
What is the the correct body for the 1500m or 800m?

I can’t believe this is upvoted so much.
She’s currently the 5th fastest over 800 in the world, and the fastest American this season. She would never touch those numbers in other events.
Yes, she might not be the most beautiful runner out there, but she’s world class level and not making the top 3 at the trials doesn’t make it a failure. USA’s female 800m is a very competitive feel not like the slow men. I think she might need to work in her last 200m speed to become more competitive but that’s something not many can master. I think she will make the Olympic team.

World class, 5th fastest 800 in the WORLD this year, fastest american.
Not making the WC team with Mu out is a massive failure. There really is no other way to look at it. Sometimes it is okay to be negative and the facts support that.
