December Madness - our 64-race tournament to determine the Race of the Decade - is over and the London 2012 Olympic men's 800 final has emerged as a dominant winner. When one front-runs a world record on the biggest stage imaginable, pulling everyone behind them save 1 person to a PR, they deserve all the accolades they get.

Our quest to determine the RACE OF THE DECADE, has come down to this: Which was the better race: David Rudisha's WR in London or Kipchoge's in Berlin?

As we choose the race of the decade, we're now down to 4 and the two most powerhouse #1 seeds now will clash. Which was a better race - Chris Solinksy's shocking upset of both Galen Rupp and the 27:00 minute barrier all at once in his pro 10,000 debut or David Rudisha's majestic wire-to-wire 800m WR in London? And what about Wayde van Niekerk's stunning WR from lane 8 to win Olympic gold in Rio or Eliud Kipchoge's marathon WR?

One of our four #1 seeds is out as the LetRun faithful showed no sentimentality for the late, great Sammy Wanjiru as his last marathon victory at the 2010 Chicago Marathon lost out to Eliud Kipchoge's world record in Berlin in 2018. Coburn and Frerichs going 1-2 or Evan Jager going down and running 8:00? Wanjiru's 2010 Chicago win or Kipchoge's 2018 Berlin WR? Or the Olympic men's 400 or women's 400 from the Rio Olympics?

What about Mo Farah and Galen Rupp going 1-2 in the Olympics versus Emma Coburn and Courtney Frerichs going 1-2 at Worlds?  How does this year's historic women's 1500 final at World's compare to the 2016 Olympics men's 1500 final? Or what about the 2019 world's women's 400 vs the 2016 Olympic women's 400?

The first round of December Madness -- LetsRun.com's 64-Race battle for RACE OF THE DECADE -- is in the books and the action was spectacular. The matchup between the GOAT -- Kenenisa Bekele and his win in Berlin in 2019 -- and the people's champ in Yuki Kawauchi and his 2018 Boston win is a battle that track and field fans will be talking about for decades as it featured a controversial finish and was decided by a single vote. In another instant classic, Des Linden's 2018 Boston victory knocked off Shalane Flanagan and her 2017 NYC win.
