Grant Fisher obliterated Bernard Lagat's American record at 5000.
Ireland’s Ciara Mageean ran a four-second pb of 3:56 at age 30 to earn the first-ever DL win by an Irish athlete while Jake Wightman beat Emmanuel Korir to win the 800 in 1:43.65. Plus the win streaks for Mondo and SAFP were ended but not by Sha'Carri Richardson.

Mageean is 30 years old and had never run under 4:00.15 yet she went 3:56.63 to pull the huge, huge upset.
What a run.

Pacing lights are such a game changer for these fast races. Pretty much guarantees the pace will be hot untill 3K and as long as someone keep following the lights during the 4th K it will be a quick finishing time. So many times these DL races would get derailed with poor and uneven pacing, and then guys would back off after the pacers drop.
Easier said than done obviously.

Irish record. DL victory. Incredible. I wish the commentators were as excited as I was.
Wow.

Props to World Champs silver medallist Jacob Krop for getting the win but the biggest news for US fans was Grant Fisher destroying Bernard Lagat's American record (12:53.11) by running 12:46.96 to finish 2nd.

I know he didn't medal at Worlds, but is this the greatest track season by an American distance runner in the professional era (counting Lagat as mid-d)?
So many ARs. My goodness.

So the graphic said the green light is 12:50 pace. That mean 3k in 7:42.00.
One thing different about this versus things in the past is with the pacing lights, things should be almost dead even. I'm not believing the 2:34-2:31 thing they keep talking about.

Chepkoech looked like she had run this fast before even though she hadn't.
Jackline Chepkoech is one to watch. World Junior Champ in 2021. Comm Games champ this year, and now PB down to 9:02. Might be the next star in the event.
