Find it interesting Kipchoge doesn’t do anything but the marathon distance. I’m sure he gets top dollar but I’d assume some half’s would pay well for him to be there. How much money is he turning down to do things his way??

Don't fix it if it ain't broken. Imagine how much he's actually worth when you compare it to the cost of living in Kenya.
He worked his way up to the distance. He was the Jr national champion in cross country at one point.

He isn't sacrificing anything. He has won the last 3 World Marathon Major series. So starting from just 2015, that is...
WMM: 2x$500,000 and 1x$250,000. = $1.25mil
2014 Chicago: $125,000+ prize (not including appearance fee)
London 2015: $150,000+ prize (not including appearance fee)
Berlin 2015: ~$100,000 prize (not including appearance fee)
London 2016: $150,000+ prize (not including appearance fee)
London 2016: no purse, but Olympic Champion contract bonus
Berlin 2017: ~$100,000 prize (not including appearance fee)
London 2018: $150,000+ prize (not including appearance fee)
Berlin 2018: $150,000+ prize (not including appearance fee or WR contractual bonus)
That's not even including the prior marathons he has won, his appearance fees which are likely 6 figures, or his contractual bonuses for times, world record, and Olympic Champ.
Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
