I am an 18 year old runner currently training for my first marathon, I have run 2 1/2s and xc throughout high school. I have had consistent shin splints, tendinitis especially achilles, knee problems, for years and they don’t seem to subside despite good habits, orthotics, PT etc. I am not especially fast and am certainly not completely at any elite level but I love running and want to improve and be as injury free as possible. I am 5’8 and around 130 pounds though it fluctuates a bit. Obviously this is more than any elite distance runner would weigh but is it too much for a less competitive runner? Would my fitness and injury prone nature improve if i were to lose weight/could this weight be holding me back?
