I should have been a little more specific with my claim. I guess I was more getting at times acheived in the “same season”. So for them it would be this indoor season. Jenkins and Chez ran faster combined, however they did it two years apart.
I could also add the claim that this is the most impressive non championships meet performance by a trio of teammates. (Distance athletes)

The 2015 Oregon Indoor team had Edward Cheserek, Erik Jenkins, Will Geohegan, Parker Stinson, Trevor Dunbar, Colby Alexander. Daniel Winn, and Johnny Gregorek. That doesn't even include guys like Blake Haney, Jake Leingang, Sam Prakel, Jeremy Elkaim. The worst guy in the group is probably Leingang, who ran 753. Indoors they went 1-3-7 in the 5000, 1-2-3-9 in the 3000m, 1-4-6 in the Mile, and won the DMR. There is absolutely know way that this isn't the greatest collection of NCAA distance talent ever put together on a single roster.
Oregon also went 1-2-3 in the 1500 with Centro, Acosta, and Wheating.
What year? Chez didn't run that until after Jenkins left. So yes Hoare and McDonald are the fastest duo in history. Take that Arkansas, Oregon, and Stanford.
Manangoi and Cheruiyot? 3:28 and 3:29? Filip and Jakob? 3:30 and 3:31.

Hats off to my dad. He just ran a 1:42 Half Marathon and turns 75 in 2 months!
