Clemson is a very average DI team and they are not well ranked in the ACC in terms of men's distance athletes. Still, I would bet their recruiting is aimed at sub 4:20/9:30 walks on athletes who also will not score at ACCs (but will at least help the XC team be respectable).
If you want to go to Clemson then go to Clemson. If you want to run in college go somewhere else.

The Nirca scene is pretty fun and there are still some good runners there. Like others have said I would email the coach, tell them you got in academically, and see what the walk on times are. Honestly Clemson doesn't seem to be a distance powerhouse so maybe you can go after the times this winter/spring.
