I am not very well versed in this kind of math so I have a question to direct to the letsrun community.
I ran an 8.4 mile race a couple weeks ago, goal was to hold 5:00 pace for as long as possible, then kick it in, but the pacing ended up being pretty awful because I went out with a guy who took it out way too hard. Most of the rest of the race was spent over 5:00 pace, hurting a good deal, before dropping back down over the last mile or so when I kicked it in, averaged 5:05 pace for it all.
How do I calculate what I would have run with more even pacing? I looked up the old trackbot thing that would calculate this, but it only works for 1500s and 5ks.
Here were my splits, 8 miles and a 0.4 mile
4:46
5:03
5:07
5:12
5:17
5:05
5:13
5:03
1:54
Thanks for any insight
