I know most runners are underweight so they don't usually get into fights but do you have any stories where you got in a fight or almost did?
One time during a high school track meet (Conference meet if I remember correctly) I was racing the 1600. As soon as the race started we separated into 2 groups, I was in the faster one that was more bunched up. The pack was very close and around 1000m we started to push the pace. The runner in front of me had a really long and sweeping kick back and when we were taking the turn the back of his spike (the heel, not the spiked forefoot, thank God) caught my quad and without a second foot to stabilize, he fell and the pack continued to move forward. After the race, I was on the side of the track getting my spikes off and grabbing my warmup clothes when I see the kid screaming to his teammates how upset he was; he didn't know who he tripped over. Even though it wasn't my fault I wanted to apologize to him because he didn't finish anywhere near the rest of us. When I approached him I started to explain what happened and I am not kidding, this guy who is 110lbs tops (I'm 145) legitimately tries to fight me. His teammates held him back and he goes back to his team's section in the bleachers. I actually had a good conversation with the kid who held him back afterwards, but I just find it funny this kid was really trying to fight me at a track meet.
Anyone have similar stories?
