My 14 yo son just hit a PR of 18:30 with 3 months of training, averaging 20-25 miles per week. What would you think a reasonable 5k goal would be for next year with consistent training? Tia

You never know. He could drop a 1620 or he could maybe only get to 1819. You just have to wait and see. This stuff isn't linear.
It sounds like he has talent. Make sure he eats proper nutrition, rests well, and doesn't have any worrying concerns such as him being flat footed.
It's very difficult to say where he could be, but it's not rare for a 14 year old boy to make very good progress from 14-15-16.
I was running 18:30s backwards in 5th grade PE... your son sucks. Bad genes much? OTQ 5k of 13:22 right now. Anyway, he'll get down to low 18:00s next year if he's lucky. He'll burn out by senior year and be running 20 min+ 5ks. Loser.
Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
