Hey Letsrun, looking for some input on setting running goals here. I'm married, late twenties and no kids yet but they're probably on the horizon. I've been debating what to do with the finite time remaining before that eclipses running.
Background: I've run a few marathons in recent years with a couple 2:28-2:29 results, though I'm more of a shorter-distance guy naturally. I like the challenge of trying to get under 2:25, it would be tough but should be possible with some more mileage and a solid buildup. Alternatively, it would probably be more fun to just focus on 10k's and halfs, though I don't think there's much room for improvement there honestly.
How do you go about setting running goals, especially if it might be your last serious cycle? If anyone has any thoughts or advice, I'd be interested to hear it.
