It's because when we sprint, we're mimicking the motion of hunting that thing down. You can't be relaxed when you're on The Hunt. However, if there's no object to hunt or chase, then seeing a random person sprint on the 'crete is unusual. Either they're running away from someone, chasing someone, or training - and that's intense.
