My son is the runner. His mom knows slightly more then I about running but neither of us have a big background in college athletics.
In hs our son had a great junior year and then was injured for much of SR year XC but managed to keep a 15:09 3mile, 4:03 1500, 4:23 1600 and a 1:52 800 in track.
He has opted to run and train for a year locally at a junior college with the hopes of transferring into a bigger school for his sophomore year. He has routinely told us he will not be good enough to run XC in college and therefore should really concentrate on the 800, so far he has run 20:56 for the 4mile and 25:40 for his first 8k during his freshmen year of XC.
What type of times do freshmen men need to pull to be considered for cross in d1 or d2 schools? We love to watch him run XC and are bummed that he has resigned himself to not being good enough. Any thoughts would be appreciated.
