WRONG! It's hard to imagine that any adult, presuming you're an adult, can be as stupid as you are.
The individual always comes FIRST, not the team, because the team consists of every INDIVIDUAL!
If this student ran through the injury, it's possible that s/he could suffer a permanent disability, or worse, due to your negligence.
You should always, ALWAYS, put the individual first. Otherwise, your team isn't worth crap.
I've seen a lot of talent go to waste because of overzealous coaches, both from plagues of injuries and athletes just getting fed up. Athletes should not be treated as a commodity. I can't believe how many people on this thread were getting so bent out of shape for the OP dropping out of this race. Bunch a-holes if you ask me.
