The early-80s were a goldmine of sh*tty form, indeed. Weird, too, as I ran with De Castella several times a year or so before this Chicago race, and I don't recall him being such a trainwreck. Between him and Salazar, it's amazing the earth didn't collapse under the weight of fail.
