Hey Letsrun,
I'm a 21 year old male who was diagnosed with a metatarsal stress fracture in the last week. Right now the only cross training I can do is a hand cycle as aqua jogging seems to irritate it. I'm walking around in the boot for the time being, at least the next four weeks. I was running about 70MPW when it happened. In the past few years, this has basically been the highest volume I can sustain without getting a major injury of some kind. I'm a bit of a larger runner, 6'4" and 175lbs, but running higher mileage is something I'd really like to be able to so so that I can train for ultras and marathons one day (I'm a pretty slow-twitch runner, significantly better at longer stuff). Anyone have any good stories of failing to run higher mileage before they figured out a way to do it without getting injured?
