The big question is will Justin Gatlin still be relevant, still in the mix? If he is in the relay pool then he will run that long second leg. His experience in that role is very valuable. If however Father Time has finally stepped in and Gatlin can no longer delivery then what do we have?
Christian Coleman does run a sub 19.90 and as we know holds the 60m WR, so he has the start and can run the curve he leads off.
Now it gets a little funky. We have nobody (thanks to Gatlin) with experience (taking and giving) on that second leg. So..? Usually ya want a stud 200m guy here, a guy who can push the zone (history proves this). The race can be broken open right here. But we have.....who? We need Lyles on anchor he appears to be perfect in that role, the best part of all his races the final 20m. Eli Hall who runs a great 200m (WR indoors) and the second leg on Houstons NCAA record team might be the one but he can't stay healthy.
Ronnie Baker has a long history on that third leg, he ran that leg in HS and at TCU. I'd have him there.
So without Gatlin and a healthy Eli Hall (if not healthy....Cameron Burrell?)
Christian Coleman....Eli Hall...Ronnie Baker...Noah Lyles
I like it.
