I am going to post my daily workouts in this thread as I set to run a 4:20 mile this year. Some background. I am in my early 30's and did run mid-distance in college for fairly decent track/xc team. I never ran more then 50 miles/week in college and never once ran consistently during the off season. I also did not run XC, so between the summer and fall I would usually gain 10+ pounds and lose a lot of fitness. My PRs from 11 years ago are:
400: 49.5
800: 1:53
Mile: 4:12
5k: 15:49
I have tried to get back into racing shaping a few times over the years, with the last attempt being 18 months ago resulting in a solo 2:02 800m after 14 weeks of training (30 miles/week and 2 track workouts/week) following by 6 months of no running and PT due to the worlds worst case of Plantar Fasciitis.
I am currently running 50 miles/week and will hit 60 miles/week next week. I will maintain that for 3 weeks and then start adding interval, tempo, threshold, vO2 max workouts.
I will also be doing more then 50% of my mileage on my TREADMILL, including tempo and threshold runs. I got this thing 9 months ago and absolutely love it. Some people hate them, but I swear my fitness is skyrocketing both on and off the treadmill because of the consistency in training it allows.
