Is there a reason why the heart would beat with more force but its rhythm wouldn't increase the faster one runs? My watch is likely not working, but it is brand new. I recently bought a Garmin Forerunner 235 and I really like it.
However, today I ran 8 miles with it as my first run. The first two miles were 8:25 and 8:15. I stopped, then ran a three miles, stopping for 60 sec between each for water (it is hot and humid where I live). These three miles were 6:40, 6:40, 6:22. Then I ran 3x20 sec pickups at mile race effort, 3x15 sec at 800m race effort and 3 x 10 sec at 400m race effort - on the minute fartlek. I jogged 10 minutes to cool-down.
My avg heart rate / overall paces are below.
1 8:25; 136
2 8:15; 143
3 6:40; 144
4 6:40; 144
5 6:22; 145
6 7:08; 142 (fartlek pickups started here)
7 8:23; 142 (pickups ended in this mile; cool-down started)
My respiration increases with faster paces, my heart feels like it is beating with more force, but it isn't increasing in number of beats per minute. This is a brand new watch.
Male, mid 30's. Morning runner in about 17:45 5k shape; sub 5 mile race shape; 58 sec 400m shape; could probably run in the high 26's for 200m with a moving start. I would like to test my max heart rate, but I don't want to test it unless the watch is working.
Any takers?
