It's interesting that some here do not consider Hoka as a name brand. They pretty much own ultra trail running and triathlons.
I have been using them exclusively now in my twilight years after three decades of wearing mostly Nikes. For older runners I think it has helped me to keep running (as well as minimizing a neuroma problem that 3 surgeries couldn't fix).
I think different shoes for different folks. I wish I could be wearing responsive shoes and running as fast as I use to, but this is where I am now.
My advice it: a) wear what works for you (but make sure you have sufficient cushioning) and b) don't ever get old, there is absolutely no upside to it!
