If she was 800 runner, she was a very odd one. She didn't run the 800 seriously in college. She ran it at NCAA's once, as a sophomore, indoors. She ran 2:07.9 and didn't make it out rounds. She ran USATF nationals in the 800 the next year; IIRC, she finished next to last in the finals, although she was dragged to a PB. She did, however, win the 1500 at NCAAs as a junior, and almost won it a senior. (She finished second after being run down on the home stretch by a runner who didn't know about her superior "natural speed.") She also finished in the top 10 at xc national as a junior and senior.
It's hard to see how all that makes her an 800 runner. But why let the facts get in the way of a good story?
