Kara Goucher ran a 1:18+ at the half marathon at Grandma's and afterwards mentioned set-backs from a personal issue she cannot discus publicly until it is resolved next month. Any ideas?

Let me start out by saying that I'm a total fan of Alberto and Galen - Galen is a stone's throw away from becoming one of the greatest runners in history - that being said, it is obvious something went wrong between Kara and Alberto/Galen. Perhaps this is related to the "personal issue". It is quite obvious Kara is mad about something (or was mad about something) as witnessed in her post Olympic Trials marathon interview in Los Angeles. Does this have anything to do with her crisis today? I don't have a clue at this point but it may be related. I do know one thing, to have a big division with hatred in the running community is not a good thing. So all the pissed off elites who are pissed off at other elites need to come together, forgive, correct where needed, and move on. Now if this has already occurred between Camp Kara and Camp Alberto/Galen great! If this current crisis is unrelated to Alberto/Galen, then whatever it is we pray for a speedy resolve. I want to see Kara break 1:10 in the half again - that would be awesome!

Are you serious? Even at the hobby jogger level, running is all about being pissed off at some douche, whether real or perceived.

Yep. Still hot tho.
June 8th, (7 days ago) a friend of mine took a shotgun and killed himself - I'm still in total shock- we in the running community if we all worked together could really create something special in supporting one another - not necessarily in monetary ways (although that could be a component via free market capitalism & charity)but mostly in kindness and encouragement ways. But that does not mean on race day you play mister or miss nice guy/gal - just like Herm Edwards once said "you play to win the game! You don't play to loose - You start telling me it doesn't matter, then retire! get out!" Nothing wrong with a little trash talk and all out battle on the track (or road) - but after the race we need to be friends again and pick each other up and help each other out. This is more about than running, it's about a healthy, happy and fit lifestyle. It's about helping each other reaching their goals and dreams and living by the Golden Rule
Hey watch it, come on now, she already belongs to someone - someone with the same exact name who named all the animals in the "garden" many many many moons ago.
A little disrespectful to mention how it was done, no? Don’t think that was necessary.
She and Adam just finished testifying against Alberto and Dr. Brown in Houston last week.
Some idiots want clean sport but also hold those willing to testify against Alberto as too guilty to help clean things up. Kara was a victim and is stepping forward to say so in court. She is a hero.

I’m not sure what’s going on with her. But what I don’t understand if Alberto was guilty of all this doping why would he be continuing coaching and prepping Galen for Chicago. If he thought that there would be bad press and consequences why would Galen be out throwing pitches, doing interviews and hyping Chicago. Wouldn’t they want to keep a low profile?
Obviously Alberto at one point in his coaching career experimented in the so called gray zone. But I’m a true believer they all do it. Why would Nike risk such bad publicity ?
As a fan of Galen I truly hope this gets resolved. And I truly believe he runs clean. Why would he risk this now. He is is on the cusp of being one of the greatest runners in American history. I hope Kara best of luck. But I do not respect her post olympics trails interview. No need to swear and put others down. Keep it professional.

As has been pointed out ad nauseum on this message board, Kara owes her career to Salazar. If any runner clearly benefited from Salazar's "gray area" it was Kara. (Also, didn't Mr. Kara Goucher introduce Dr. Brown to the NOP?
Whistleblowers often owe their careers to their criminal bosses. Blowing the whistle is still the right thing to do.
Not good improvement from Goucher.
She ran 1:18 at Virginia Beach in April.
She just ran 1:18 again at Grandmas's in June.
She has stagnated. Maybe she has a #MeToo story with Magness coming out.
Probably a divorce. I thought she was done running pro a long time ago. Nothing to take away many years she was on top, she just needs to step aside.
Kara hasn't been relevant for years. Time for her to focus on her other interests outside of professional running.

Why?
Because he ran 2:06? Dozens and dozens of runners have.
Because he won an Olympic bronze? A silver? Dozens of runners have done that, who you can't even name, let alone would you call them "one of the greatest in history."
Because he has won ONE major international race in his CAREER, the Chicago marathon? Chicago has had dozens of winners who like Rupp aren't even in the same bus as a conversation about the GOAT.
Fanboy, NONE of these things, even combined, suggest that Rupp will be remembered AT ALL (outside of America) in 20 years. On the global stage, he has been, is now, will remain an ALSO-RAN to the real greats of his time: Farah, Kipchoge, Keflezghi, Mutai, Kipsang, Kamworor, Kebede and many others. Stefano Baldini has done more claim to "one of the greatest in history" than Rupp has.
You understand they stood behind Lance until he confessed even though it was as clear as day LA was the biggest cheat in sport history.
They will risk standing behind Galen for the publicity of supporting a homegrown hero winning Chicago, even if was was clear he cheated. In this case it is still pretty unclear that AS and Guppie have done anything wrong. So yes Phil will stand behind his fellow duck until Galen actually says I cheated.
she probably has tear filled conversations everyday. just because this one was recorded for media doesn't mean she said anything new or newsworthy.

Kara could be the female Bill Rodgers. RD's inviting her to road races every weekend because she is the pied piper of female running.
Fair statement?
RIP: D3 All-American Frank Csorba - who ran 13:56 in March - dead
Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
RENATO can you talk about the preparation of Emile Cairess 2:06
I’m a D2 female runner. Our coach explicitly told us not to visit LetsRun forums.
