Well, we disagree on the validity of the penalty call, so let's leave it that.

Greizmann diving all over the place. Fock france. They are not deserving, and are even more disgraceful than their 2010 WC team that revolted against their coach.
Croatia was the best team in the WC with Belgium a close second. Croatia were dominant in this game and destroyed the midfield and the flanks.
Well, it has been great. Solid thread. Now it is time to get back to running. Peace to all, until next year.
Playing your worse game and still winning a final that's definetly the sign of the best team in the WORLD!!!!
That's why they are world Champion again...3 finals 2 wins..
LOVE IT!!!!
I feel you. I just think the team has a lot of maturing to do. The diving needs to stop as well as other silly stuff that they do. At the end of the day, they won, but it will not memorable like 1998. And they should have won in 2006, but france headbutted themselves. Also, they need to play football when they face teams that can play real football. We saw it against Belgium and we saw it against Croatia. There were no match down the flanks or in the midfield. The great Kante, the best defender in the world, was taken off. That says a lot.
We saw them go to parking, and then intercept the ball, and kill with their speed on the break, so Mbappe got a goal and Pogba got a goal. Yes, it is a tactic. But when they realize they are no match for a team in straight up football, they resort to that tactic of just dropping everyone in the box. Some see it as anti-football. Croatia stayed on the attack, never parked the bus. Japan stayed on the attack, never parked the bus. Belgium stayed on the attack, never parked the bus. Just saying, bro, It is not good football.
Congrats to you and your squad, and great conversing with you.
You weigh midfield play and possession too heavily. Croatia only produced three shots on goal. Their defense was porous. The better team won and it was evident the whole 2nd half.
International football is not going to produce the same quality of football as the Champions League, simply because a Champions League team might have the best players from a number of countries and they play together a lot more. You might see better team football from Belgium, Croatia, Japan, Uruguay, etc., because many of those players have been on the national team together for multiple tournament cycles. But then a team like France plays a bit ugly but oozes with so much talent that it can propel them to victory. But France played to their strengths, made big plays when it mattered, and shut down opposing teams when they got the lead, and that's what you need to do in order to win. Having guys like Mbappe, Pogba, Kante, and Griezmann, each capable of taking over a game, also helps a ton.
But if you took this French team and put them up against Real Madrid in a home-and-away series, I think Real Madrid would win. Real Madrid would control the game and pound in goals before France knew what was happening.
Kante is a midfielder.
France were the best team this World Cup, I wanted Croatia to win and they were unlucky with France's goals in the first half, but France in balance deserved it.
Croatia were on the attack because they were behind, you have to.
You've heard people who know about football use the term 'park the bus' and not really understood what it means. France didn't 'Park the bus' at any point during this World Cup. Playing on the counter isn't 'Parking the bus'.

Modric gets the golden ball. I can't complain. I would have given it to Hazard, because he was outstanding throughout the
entire tourney. Hell, they just might be playing together in the upcoming season at Real Madrid.
Top 5 Players in the WC
Hazard
Modric
Cavani
Kane
Kante
Scorpion....Probably the only person in the world who wouldn't mention Mbappe in the top 5 of this World Cup. (Keep the Haters coming) ...That's OK He's WORLD CHAMPION at 19 yrs old!!!
I don't think he will mind!!!!!
Of course, international football is not going to provide that same quality. The experience is not there. Club teams are always together, and so many different players get called up for the national team, so national teams are forever changing. However, that still is no excuse for the way that France played at times. What made this World Cup so great is that even the smaller teams were always on the front foot attacking, and playing with great quality like never before. We saw great football play in almost every match, with each team really wanting to win.
Maybe Deschamps felt that his team was too young and inexperienced to effectively go toe to toe with the more experienced skilled clubs, so he protected them in those pressure situations.. But like the Fox Analysts stated, as well as ESPNFC's crew, there needs to be better quality of play down the road from France, and as they mature and evolve, maybe we will see that. They were the second youngest team in the tourney behind Nigeria.
In 2012, when chelsea won the CL, a lot of people stated that we weren't deserving. I didn't care. I was just happy that we won our first CL. But then I re-watched a lot of those games, and realized they were right. We parked the bus in a lot of games just to survive, especially against Barca ( but at the same time we had to because Terry got red carded).
It's like with running ,to see runners just draft other runners, and not help with running the pace, conserving energy.....It's legal, but you don't really respect it. Sitting in the box, letting the other team use up energy and come forward, just to kill them on the counter is legal, but you don't really respect it.
A DEFENSIVE MIDFIELDER!
god, you try to hard ...you really do. but keep going.
I agree on this game France was dominated from start to finsh except for a few moments of greatness.
I disagree on the Belgium game...France had more dangerous opportunities and more shots on goal and more shots on target.
Yes, they are very young indeed and they will need to improve on several areas Mbappe as well.....But That's the scary thing ...Time is on their side and this experience is all they need.... I hope!
Peace

I just feel that the other players were more consistent than Mbappe. Mbappe didn't not show up in every game, and Kane won the Golden Boot and was clearly england's best player. Pogba was man of the match for france in this game, and Varane
was the man of the match in the game against Belgium.
Hell one could argue that Kante, except for this game, was the best player in the tournament with his consistency on defense, and being all over the pitch.

I was giving you credit. It wasn't a negative thing.....Your perception is quality
and yes, I do despise france! They play just like they fought in WW2..
lol just joking.
Everybody at the pub where I was at were for Croatia. It was lonely being a France supporter. And there has been a lot of hate thrown at them when I've watched their matches and I get it. ("Giroud is trash", "Le let la la"). France is a team people love to hate. A Croatia win would have been a cool story.
Say what you will about France, I wouldn't be surprised if they become the new Brazil. The country that we think of when we think about soccer and winning teams. I could see them adding one or two more WC wins in the next three world cups. They have so much talent and they devote a lot of resources to the national team. How many national teams get to stay at a chateau for their national training center? Their training is on YouTube. I liked seeing how they did short pitch practice. You could see how it paid off when they were doing short passes on their side of the pitch.
At the end of the day, it is all barber shop talk, bro. I don't really hate france. And I love Giroud, he plays for Chelsea! And I love Kante and Varane. I also love Lacazette who should have been on the team.
Too many great french players throughout the history of France to dislike them: Henry, Zidane, Anelka, Sagna, MALOUDA , Benzema, Ribery, etc.
I just hate the way THAT THIS FRENCH TEAM PLAYS. But I will probably love them during Euros and the next WC.... I am not a fan of Mbappe though. He reminds me to much of Neymar, too many on the field antics and stuff.

WW2....Here you go talking about something you know nothing about AGAIN!
Go ahead, You Keep hating.... we'll keep winning!!
Peace...
Good game Croatia...much tougher than the Belgium game... despite the score.
Slow down grasshopper, we have some ways to go before we can pretend to be compared to Brazil and/or Germany...
But, yes, the national team has a bright future and with the accomplishments in the past 20+ some years , It will be fun to watch the show!!!
Peace to All Even you Scorpion!
May soccer becomes great in the USA ...eventually!
Is the next World Cup seriously going to be in November? What a farce. Are the European leagues going to take a month break? Oh well. Even though I dislike the corrupt Russian sports federations and their cheating athletes, at least they put on a great World Cup. Much better than the last two for sure.

Yeah, WW2 where france lost their country because they underestimated the germans. When french spies told its government that the germans were coming, they laughed it off, thinking that no one could get through their forests and mountains. But hitler built smaller tanks to navigate through, thus allowing Germany to take over france. Yes, France continued fighting with England and soldiers from Poland, so they stayed strong. But their immaturity regarding Hitler lost them their country, that is what I was referring to. However, I was joking about the matter.
We're good.
Fact:
France scored 11 goals in 4 games in the 2nd phase of the WC.( the most crucial phase where champions know how to turn it on)
Not bad for a team that "Park the bus"...
Not really the usual let's take a one score lead and hope for PK if we can't make it!
I LOVE IT!!!
