Free Flow of Information wrote:
This is from Letsrun own webpage, some parts bolded for emphasis:
Our World Famous Message Boards
After our homepage, the most well visited part of LetsRun.com is our world famous message boards. It’s where you our amazing visitors share all your incredible knowledge about the running (and non-running world). The message boards are an integral part of LetsRun.com and we often highlight the content on them. The boards are THE place that runners from all over the world go for the latest news, results, and gossip in the running world. While we moderate the forums, one unique feature that encourages the free flow of information is if you want to be anonymous on our forums you can be.
LetsRun.com is first and foremost a community of runners. The message boards are where all those conversations you have on your runs continue when you get back from the run.
I understand the need to moderate the self proclaimed "world famous" message boards for certain things that may be illegal. However, what I do not understand nor agree with, nor should anyone who believes that this board is truly a place, where as advertised, a board where "...amazing visitors share all your incredible knowledge about running (and non-running world)," which includes "...the latest news, results and gossip...," yes, gossip.
Many of the topics have nothing to do with running, some border on the absurd and leave you wondering how or why anyone would ask or posit such a statement. Yet, that is the beauty and power of free speech, sharing of information and opinions, etc. You don't need to agree with all of it or care about it. You can choose to ignore what does not interest you or you disagree with. Some of it is awe inspiring and insightful, some of it isn't. But to censor the mere mention or hint of one person or topic, neither of which is illegal or breaks any laws, and which is rooted in running, is unconscionable, hypocritical and calls into question the integrity of Letsrun proclamation posted above. This topic /person is the same one that the brojos took to task themselves for certainly "running" antics. Very self-serving and raises a lot of questions of which side of the fence they are on.
I am sure there will be plenty of you that are cut from the snowflake mold that is censoring this board and agree and take me to task for dare saying any of this. The difference between me and you is that I embrace the difference of opinions, I don't try to erase or shut down differences, a common tactic here and other social media platforms, a tactic that has become all too common.
That is of course if you even get a chance to read this, because, like many other similar postings, this one is likely to removed fairly quickly before many get to read this and voice their support or disagreement with it.
I don't think you understand how this works wrote:
Rojo/Wejo own this site. They can do whatever the hell they want. If you don't like it, go to some other running site.
(FWIW, I think Rojo/Wejo are morans, but this website is entertaining, so I continue to lurk.)
I am in total agreement with your statements and sentiments towards the matter.
And in the words of the great Voltaire: " I may not believe a word you say, but I will fight to the death your
right to say them."
And posting your thoughts anonymously adds more flare to your position .....You cheeky boy, you.
Also, you take this site way too seriously. I bet you’re the type who gets 90% of his information from Letsrun because you’ve convinced yourself it’s some sort of “bastion of free speech”. Please. There are many, many better places for discussing things that aren’t running. Try reddit.
No Days Off is a call for consistency, moderation and patience: the full-time, year-round commitment to the process. Two athletes put the 2019 No Days Off Collection, featuring winter performance apparel made from Australian Merino wool, through its paces over a cold-weather training camp in Craftsbury, Vermont. Film directed by Emily Maye and produced with support from The Woolmark Company.
