I think Miller will progress. Hopefully Max will too. Max has run over 2 seconds faster at 15 than Brandon did though .... so Brandon will have to improve just to be on the same page. The good thing is that, with these two and Ingebritsen, we can look forward to interesting clashes amongst young middle distance runners.
...Also Tefera, who is less than one year older than Jakob ran a 3:31.63 today, Waithaka who is 5 months older than Jakob ran a 13:10.1 today and Lekuta, who in also less than one year older than Jakob ran a 1:45.4 last year.
I can never get too excited about young phenoms, it's always so hit or miss as to whether they actually do anything at a senior level. I'd be far more excited to see an 18 year old run 1:43 than a 15 year old run 1:48.
1:47/1:49 isn't yet elite and we've seen it before, sometimes kids just don't progress or get injured or whatever.
Ridiculous run by Burgin though, I really hope he can do some special things. I watched the race today and based on how he came through at the end I think he can run 1:46 this year, as a 16 year old.
On a different note, this list of "age world records" that everyone refers to seems to ignore all of the African countries...? I know there has been age cheating in the past, but someone like Amos who is from Botswana, who as far as I'm aware have a pretty decent system governing birth certificates and the like, just ignored by this list entirely?
