Hi, I'm Shawn H, and I have a running shoe addiction. Well, it's not actually that bad . . . or is that just denial? Ok, so I now have about 8 new pairs of running shoes in their boxes. But I'll give you my rationale for having bought all of them, thus we're past denial and onto rationalization.
1. I have four new pairs of Hoka One One Huaka. Why? Because they are light, well-cushioned, very responsive, and have the best ride I've ever felt in a running shoe. I like their 2 mm heel-toe drop. Hoka stopped making them. They also wear out after about 250 miles. So I bought all of them on a great Running Warhouse clearance sale because they're my all-time favorite shoe and they don't last long.
2. I have a new pair of Nike Vomero. Again, great clearance sale, they looked nice, and I couldn't resist.
3. I have a new pair of Adidas Tempo (Boost midsoles). Great sale, and I wanted something else for faster running days.
4. I have a new pair of Nike Zoom Elite. Great sale, and another shoe for fast running days.
5. I have a new pair of Adidas Supernova Glide Boost. My second-favorite running shoe. Great sale, and they'll replace the pair I'm using now that has 410 miles on them. Adidas foolishly and despicably stopped making them, so I just had to buy them while I still could.
So I have these eight . . . oh, and in our house in Thailand I have another new pair of the Hoka One One Huaka . . . But that shouldn't count (should it?) even though we'll soon be retiring and moving their permanently.
Oh, and I forgot that I also have a new pair of Saucony Breakthru--currently on sale at Running Warehouse for 45 dollars. Fantastic shoes at that price. Great for wearing AND running on all my frequent foreign trips. Light, responsive, well-cushioned for their weight . . . and I'm tempted to buy a couple more pairs. You know, just because they're good and they're on sale.
And I'm currently looking at those nice Saucony Freedom that are now on sale at Running Warehouse for $119, down from the $160 they were selling them for just a few weeks ago. If they drop below $100, I'll just HAVE TO buy a pair, probably those in the denim/copper colorway . . . Just because their full Everun midsoles are supposed to be much like the Adidas Supernova Glide Boost (that Adidas foolishly and despicably stopped making), AND they have a nice 4 mm heel-toe drop . . .
