The attention hound was trying to get the BBC television cameras to focus on him.
Somebody gave him a piano to carry and his world record pace then slowed to a more pedestrian pace.

I have a question? Who were the two pacers for the women race? They jogged a 2:18, walked off the course with 100m to go.
Not a bad workout on a warm day.

Yep, I was thinking the same thing. They looked well within themselves. But then again, so did Kipchoge, THE MASTER.
Steve Cram said early on it semed like a rope-a-dope strategy from Kipchoge. Ask for a ridiculous pace because he knew he'd be the one leading when they all sufffered, not because he believed he would be able to sustain WR pace.
Somebody from Kipchoge's camp had already been quoted a couple of days earlier saying a WR was possible if the forecasted temperature dropped, and it didn't. So it's hard to believe he set off at 61 half pace ever thinking he was going to run a WR.
