When I was in college about 30 years ago, I seem to recall that the Boston Marathon qualifying standard was 2:50. Does anyone know (A) if that is correct and (B) if that was the standard regardless of age? Just asking out of curiosity.
I am now in my early 50s and the 2019 BQ time is 3:30. I understand that running the BQ time does not guarantee entry, but how do they determine who among the time qualifiers gets in? Is it by lottery, or do they take the fastest "x" number of qualifiers in the age division?
Thanks.
