Agree. Wonder why more people aren't talking about this.

I give Kirui credit for running bravely. I love that he helped give the race an honest pace and then grinded it out rather than quitting. At that point it would have been quite dumb for him to quit, though. He still received a big payday for 2nd place and he remained in the WMM hunt. How many people would have had to pass him before he quit or would he have finished regardless?
Kiplagat finishing in 9th is pretty admirable. That's a significantly smaller payday and won't help her in WMM standings. That was much more about just being proud to finish and let the chips fall where they may.
Im not a Rupp fanboy but unless you were there running, I dont think you can say Rupp's DNF is a sign he is a "loser". Hypothermia is a real thing and affects everyone differently. I think the only thing you can fault him for is not speaking to the press afterwards. I have a friend that was cranking out 6:50 mile splits when absolutely everything fell apart at 24.6 miles. He couldnt control his shivering despite staying in a heated tent for over an hour. The medical personnel refused to let him back on the course and today he feels gutted. It was just one of those days
