I actually run in my Boston jacket most days to warm up...nice addidas jacket. Boston is one of the cooler big marathons. At 41 years old I'd tell the OP to post back in 20-25 years and see if they still feel the same way. It is possible but I doubt it.
The OP isnt even a runner. He just set the hook to see who would bite.

It's a fvcking terrible jacket.
If it didn't have the B.A.A. logo on it, you wouldn't pay $30 for it.
Not rainproof. Not breathable materials. No vents. No inside pockets. Horrible colours.
I'm a hobby jogger. But you have to be an idiot hobby jogger to actually run in the nylon piece of shyte jacket.
And yes, I own one.
I should have bought a vintage Members Only jacket instead.

That's letsrun in a nutshell.
Yes. We will follow the logic. I remember an athlete running 2:03 for 800m off from nearly zero training or mileage - just mom and dad’s clear contributions. He thought it was his work ethic:) and the other kids were overtraining. Yup... those 10-15 miles per week and warm-up drills took a toll on him during the 14 weeks per year he ran. I hope he sets dress codes for others as well.
I wouldn't call people "hobby joggers" because they wear the jacket, but wearing the jacket is definitely rather goofy. But I feel the same way about an adult wearing a football jersey or anything similar.
Now here's the hypocrisy ... I am a cyclist as well, and I have no problem wearing ProTour jerseys. I recognize this is at odds with my views, but I guess that's how it is.
The thing about the Boston jacket is it seems like a solicitation to get people to comment on it.
I mentioned this in another thread a while back. I was at small race. There’s a guy with a pony tail that shows up and is a little dramatic with his warm up so he’s memorable. He’s trotting around in his Boston jacket and it’s not really jacket weather. Because I’m obnoxious and curious, I check his name on the Boston entry list for the jacket (2019). It’s not there. So I did a basic search for his name. Nothing. Then I did his city. Still nothing. I concluded he never qualified let alone ran. I dug a little deeper and did an athlinks search. Zero marathon results with his name. Safe to assume a giant poseur.
I’m a D2 female runner. Our coach explicitly told us not to visit LetsRun forums.
