That is the only way that Rupp will get the V.
Al out there like a rowing coach.
" Come on, Rupp, kick in those boosters in the last 10k, Tola is widening the gap."

I rode in the lead car with Rosa Mota's coach years ago and he got out of the car to call out to Rosa.

To coach her? What race was that in? I didn't know something like that was legal

Why would you think coaching an athlete would be illegal, whether the event is on the track, the road, or xc?
On the track, I can understand. That's a given. The coach is on the greenery yelling out instructions while the runners go around the oval. The coach is not following the runner.
I didn't think it was allowed for a coach to be in a van/car following a runner giving out instructions in a major marathon race, with lots of runners on the road.

I would not think it would be legal unless ALL coaches were given the opportunity to ride in the lead vehicle and coach their athletes. With that said, it would not surprise me at all if Al 'Helicopter Coach' Salazar was the only coach allowed to do so at Boston.

The coach can't yell out instructions from the "greenery." They have to be outside the track. Otherwise they can coach from wherever they want. So congrats, you have it backwards as usual.
Just a reminder that OP is the same dude who told Gwen Jorgenson to "SHUT UP" and went on a long diatribe from his mom's basement.

That is the same understanding that I have. I was quite surprised to see that it was allowed in Rome, and he was basically following Rupp like team cars follow cyclists.

The race organizer may let him do that if he first gives him a nice androgel massage with a happy ending.
I personally don't think that NOP pushes juice like that. They just play the TUE game, and go beyond the legal doses on drugs that athletes are allowed to use. Big Al bends the rules, but does not break them.
IIRC from the video, AlSal was not the only coach in the van in Rome. Towards the beginning another coach called out to other athletes, and the van in fact followed some of GRupp's East African competitors even after he gapped them. But eventually the van pulled up to Galen the VICTORIOUS.

Oh for sure. There were definitely others in the van with Al. I just didn't know that something like that was legal, and is it allowed in Boston?
LOL at "eventually the van pulled up to Galen the VICTORIOUS."
I like Rupp, personality as well. He just needs to blaze a fast time for him to be certified in my book. He is still not passing my eye test at the marathon level, but he is getting there.

He will, but you won't see him. He'll pass his "vitamins" from afar, by way of blowdart, much like the way zoo trainers sedate animals. Rupp's right glute will be shot with a booster at mile 14.5. Watch for it.
It's not like you're NOT looking at Galen's ass anyhow, right?

He's not passing your 'eye test', eh?

Olympic bronze
Boston #2
Chicago #1
I think you need to get your eyes checked.
It's a free country, of course Al Sal can ride in the van and yell at Galen to relax or fix his arm carriage or whatever. Galen will still run the race with his legs.

I think Rupp is the only guy that’s not allowed to have a coach

“get the v”?
Who the hell talks like that? Do you watch sports at all? Ever?
Get the W!!!!!
Getting the V is... well... ?
I bet Gwen Jorgensen could beat OP on the track or in the marathon... he thought his opinion actually mattered, like he knew anything about Jorgensen... don't think he knows anything about this either.
I’m a D2 female runner. Our coach explicitly told us not to visit LetsRun forums.
