The top 2 athletes in the world will face each other, on average, less than once per year. For the top 4+ athletes to all compete against each other at once is essentially unheard of.
There are seemingly zero English-speaking commentators in the world who can perform a competent 2-hour piece of marathon coverage. Contrast with a sport like cycling, where they can do a better job with even longer events DAILY for weeks on end.
