Long post but I feel like it’s needed to show my progression:
So I started running my sophomore year and ran a 18:43 5k. My first race I ran a 20:04 so I think the improvement was good. Track came and I ran a 58 in the 4x400 and an 800 in like 2:15.
Next year, I didn’t improve much in the 5k but that’s because I was lazy over the summer, I ran an 18:19 and I decided to run with the sprinters in track. Notable times (hand timed from meets and practices) 200- 25.7 300-39 400- 56
This year (my senior year) I was injured all XC season due to plantar fasciitis and i decided to run through it and got a stress fracture. I’ve ran some over the winter but not high mileage(25-35)
Again, I am now in track and looking to run a 54 or faster... I’m with the sprinters again but I may go with the distance runners in the mornings (the top guys do 4 milers and sometimes workouts) along with practices after school with the sprinters.
Just looking for any advice as I think I have some ok speed, it’s just the last 100 I struggle in. I think I start kind of fast too but I don’t have any splits from races to tell anyone who reads this. My main goal is like a 53 because then I could run the 4x400 every meet and I really enjoy that event.
I’m 5’10 and about 140 lbs and we lift 2-3x a week with the sprinters. My squat max is like 210 but I haven’t maxed in a while
