I am a high school runner (Jr.) and have been running for 1 year now with a 4:41 1600 and 16:50 5k (xc), i have never been over 40 miles a week and was coming off of a breakthrough season in cross country. I started up training again with a weeks rest after state (because i collapsed before the finish and had all sorts of troubles) and trained consistently for around 1 month, getting up to about 35 miles weekly. I came down with the flu and was out for 6 days and on the second or third day back running, the front of my hip became really sore and started to develop a disconnected kind of feeling whenever i lift up my knee to my chest (it pops a little). It has been going on for 2 weeks (i figured id take some time off and strengthen and stretching my legs because I'm 6 foot 3 and 160 lbs) and the pain persisted. After every run it would hurt all around my hip for 24 hours and then the pain would go away, but come back immediately when running again. I have gotten x-rays and they did not show anything. Has anyone heard of this kind of injury or experience anything like it? if so what did you do to get over it, and how serious is this?
