abnormal fatigue and headaches

I've been running for a long time and recently I started getting headaches after hard runs and feeling lightheaded, times have been going up a lot and feeling very weak on runs with times that I shouldn't feel weak on

One possible thing is that I could have a virus that I contracted last Friday but it is still going on (today is next Sunday)

Friday night I felt very nauseous and weak with a headache all of sudden but it went away the next day (probably virus) but wouldn't I have recovered by that by now?

Could this just be effects of the brief virus or something else?

Btw my iron levels are good

Also, I would like to point out something that a lot of people will not think of on here that recently happened to me. After several days of running I was feeling really weird after my runs, like lightheaded / tingly feeling and weird balance issues, lately i had some ear ringing, well guess what it was? I went to the doctor and from running outside in 10 degrees for 2 months I had an ear infection. Odd thing is my ear wasn't really hurting but i had an inner ear infection which was emulating the symptoms of dehydration. If you don't feel normal get checked out they can spot this type of stuff quick.

What about other levels you can blood test for? Went through a stretch of feeling lightheaded and it turned out my sugar levels were low. Taking in more sugar did the trick. Check electrolyte levels, hydrate, etc. If nothing in there works, you can keep working up the chain and see some specialists- an ENT doctor for example to check for imbalances.

I think I am hydrated enough. I haven't changed my diet and eat vitamins everyday. Not sure what this could be. Still have the headache and such even though it has been a week

I just had the same issue. Ended up being low ferritin. Ideal range of ferritin for running should be 60-150.

my first thought is over training - loss of form with run times going up and feeling weak on previously easy runs are all signs of over training. over training does not normally cause headaches but that could be a symptom of a secondary problem. it is also worth bearing in mind that if you had a virus and continued to train that in and of itself could cause over training. when you are ill, rest.

if you are sure it is not over training, you are fully hydrated and your sugar and iron levels are fine then persistent headache, nausea and weakness are sufficient cause to see a doctor. if you can remember the first time you had the headache, actually during a run, just afterwards, or some time after the run, your doctor would like to know that.
