On an easy run last Wednesday I tripped, fell, and landed hard on my left knee. I quickly got back on my feet and continued running. The knee was sore the rest of the morning but I got out for an easy double in the afternoon. The pain disappeared after a mile or so of the easy second run. On Thursday, my knee was sore on my morning run but the pain nearly went away after a few miles and returned in the last few miles of my run after a set of strides on an Indoor track. Again, the knee was sore the rest of the day. Friday morning it was sore the entire run. Saturday I had to stop a few miles in. I’ve tried ice, heat, and combinations of the two. I’m surprised it’s still so sore, even after a few days off. Should I ice? Use heat? Can or should I run? Running is painful but I’ll run through it as long as running doesn’t delay the healing process.
