So, I am currently a freshman in college at a mediocre D3 program. In highschool I ran a 4:35 mile, a 9:59 two mile, and a 16:31 5k. Just to make this even more frustrating, I did a time trial 5k in my team's preseason and I rac 15:56 for a 5k on a trail. Suddenly, I had to drop out of a 5k and I couldn't even keep 16:10 pace and I could only muster a 4:42 mile just yesterday. Granted, I did that mile with no one in front of me besides a guy who ran a 4:24 and a pack that was in front of him. What the hell happened to me? I'm at the point where I'm just settling for less now because that's all I feel like I can do. My coach is far from exceptional and has thrown inconsistent mileage at me and my old team is a bunch of guys who don't care about the art of winning. What the hell am I doing wrong????
