If criminals were ordered to upload daily data and report to a coach daily, the criminal would be signed up for X marathon X amount of months out if they don't comply and complete the marathon they would get the max sentence in prison.
I honestly think this would teach discipline and would work for a lot of people. Addicts specifically benefit from running, have a look at a lot of top end athletes who were former crackheads/heroin addicts, a good example is Lionel Sanders who was (2nd?) in Kona this year, he was a former addict who almost died from his behaviors only to find triathlon. A lot of addicts could apply their behaviors in a more positive way.
