Coming back to running and racing I had two questions specific to racing early in the season.
1. How early into training season before your peak race can or should you race for training purposes and to see where you stand early into training?
(I am in phase 2 of 4 of Daniels Running Formula for 1500/3000 45-50MPW meaning I am just starting doing faster 200/400/600 (R pace) type running this last week. When the first 2 indoor races available to run come up I'll be 4th and 5th week of Phase 2 or 10 and 11 weeks into the program total.) I been building mileage since July 9th.
2. Should I focus on racing shorter early on than my target race at USATF masters in March? I'm shooting for 1500m in March. Is it more beneficial to race the 1500m early on or work on shorter and longer races till phase 3 and phase 4 of the plan when its closer to goal races or race 1500m also?
3. If I decide to race early on and actually race 1500m how often can I run without messing up my peak for March. once a month, twice a month, weekly?
