Sadly they don’t give athletic money. I have looked at schools like berry
Thanks
What part of the country are you in? What do you want to study? WWU in Bellingham, WA is D2 and solid academically, but you'd probably need to be faster to even walk on.
Lots of D2 schools typically are good in a few programs. It depends what you want to study. Those are decent times for many .D1 women’s programs.
Yeah, top five high school girls in the whole US!
If a girl ran that fast, she wouldn't be looking for advice on D2 schools on this forum. :-)
Welp. down in the southeast where you live (don't be creeped out I just used milesplit) , therer arent many competitive options, so many may be easier to come by.
If you are wanting to find these colleges, simply e-mail coahes in your region about scholarship standards, and definitely search for good colleges ouside your own state with good financial aid.
Also: this track season is essential-Dont waste the opportunity!
It depends on what you’re looking for in a program. If you want money first and a program second I’m sure you’ll find a bad program that is willing to give you some money. Start with first finding what you want to major in or at least some idea of it. Then use regional results to start and do your research from there. This is how I found my school when I was looking for a grad school to compete at. One thing you should think about is that there is always the opportunity to earn a scholarship. Strong D2 track programs tend to provide money mostly to those that have potential to score at the conference or national meet. Unfortunately for us distance runners that means that for the most part, unless you’re a total stud as a freshman, you’re not going to be getting much. Personally, I would rather go to a program that could develop me as an athlete than going to some crap program just because I’m getting money. 4:40 as a sophomore is pretty solid and if you develop well you could be an asset to a program. Look at the development of the athletes of the program and their performances at the regional meet year after year.
Use Tfrrs to check regional results. Each regional meet is there. Don’t be afraid to look outside the qualifiers either. There’s programs around the country that are building, who knows, you may be part of it.
I’m a D2 female runner. Our coach explicitly told us not to visit LetsRun forums.
Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
