To be fair, they're only there for the running.
When a British athlete goes to the US to run, they're kinda saying that education is being put on the backburner for the time being.

If you used a bit of logic, you would see that it would be strange if there were not more foreign than American NCAA alums in the olympics.
1. Many top foreign athletes come to the US for college
2. There are only so many US Olympic team spots, and there are, naturally, many more spots amongst the many nations that have athletes in the NCAA

Same for Canadians. I still remember being in a first year Geography course at a US University that covered material we took in Grade 7. The class was full of senior basketball and football players who all sat in the back row. Decades later look at who is in the White House.
Neale and Taylor in 2nd and 3rd. Also Alice Wright in 14th runs for GB.
