i dunno how girls could run below 20 miles per week training for cross. You think they would average at least what the race is. I figure 25-30mpw would be normal.
It is easy to average at least the race distance--if you run every day.
And the successful programs do have runners running 30+ a week, but that is an exception. If a runner takes off each Sunday, and misses one other practice during the week, that means they would need 5 miles a day just to hit 25 for the week, and that isn't even a minimum expectation. It's more like an optimistic projection.
It just seems like all you have to do to make a good girls team, is get them to run more.
I'm pretty good friends with a girl on the team. We'll run together after practice a few times a week. Her coach has her run less in practice and she just gets in extra runs with me. Like she'll do 3-4 mile runs all week in practice (I'll do 5-6) and we run together before or after practice about 5-7 miles
